Remove extra spaces

Tidy pasted text while keeping control over paragraphs and line breaks.

Why pasted text sometimes looks messy

Text copied from PDFs, emails, or documents can arrive with repeated spaces, tabs, and empty lines. The Text Cleaner helps with those spacing issues. It does not rewrite sentences or decide which words to remove.

Three options, three different jobs

Before and after

With the first two options enabled, this:

  A clearer sentence.
    A second line.

becomes:

A clearer sentence.
A second line.

Blank lines between paragraphs stay in place unless you choose to remove them. Windows-style line endings are normalized to standard line feeds during cleaning.

Clean text in four steps

  1. Open Text Cleaner and paste your text.
  2. Select the changes you want. The defaults tidy spacing and line edges.
  3. Click Clean text and review the result in the same editor.
  4. Use Copy text to take the result back to your document.

If the result is not what you wanted, click Undo to restore the version from before the last tool action. Undo keeps one previous version, so save important work separately.

When spacing is meaningful

Take care with source code, poetry, plain-text tables, and outlines. Indentation and repeated spaces can be part of their structure. For these formats, uncheck the relevant options or clean only the section that needs attention.

Text that has been broken across lines by a PDF may need manual editing after cleaning. This tool deliberately does not guess which lines belong in the same sentence.

All cleaning happens in your browser. Your editor text is not sent to a text-processing service.
